Mesquite, Nevada sits about 40 minutes southwest of St. George on I-15, along the Virgin River. It's known for golf, casinos and active-adult communities like Sun City Mesquite, and a lot of homes have private pools or community pool access. Many owners are snowbirds or retirees whose grandkids visit during school breaks. That's exactly when a pool safety fence earns its keep.
Important: Nevada is a different state. In Nevada, contractors generally need a license from the Nevada State Contractors Board for construction work, and a Utah license doesn't carry over. Our network is based in St. George, Utah. We pass Mesquite requests only to an installer who can legally do the work in Nevada, and we'll tell you honestly if we can't help. You can check any contractor's license on the Nevada State Contractors Board website. Also note that Mesquite is on Pacific time, one hour behind St. George.
Most Mesquite communities have HOA design rules about fence materials, colors and height. Get approval before installation. Glass and mesh are often easier to approve because they don't block views, but your HOA decides. See our HOA and rental pool fence guide.
If you're gone for the hot months, a permanent fence plus a safety cover is good protection while the house is empty. Have someone check gates and latches during the summer, because desert heat is hard on springs. Check that nothing next to the fence, like patio furniture, could be used to climb over.
Mesquite has its own building department and follows Nevada and city codes, which are different from Utah's. Ask the city what pool barrier it requires before you buy. Our pool fence code guide is written for Utah, but the questions to ask are the same: fence height, openings, gate swing, latch height and whether house doors need alarms.
Quotes depend on length, material, gates and deck. See the cost guide for typical national ranges.
For Utah homes, see St. George and our full list of service areas.
Have your HOA's fence rules handy, note whether the home sits empty part of the year and include a few photos of the pool area. Mention when the grandkids or guests usually arrive. If the timing is tight, it helps to start the HOA approval and the quote request at the same time. Make sure anyone you hire shows you a valid Nevada contractor license.
Not sure whether you need mesh, glass or aluminum? Our comparison page walks through the trade-offs, and the child safety guide has a quick checklist for visiting kids.

A removable mesh fence is a common choice. It's hard for young children to climb and easy to take down after the visit.
